The psychological damage of trauma happens automatically, however we must heal it manually.
This can seem like an overwhelming amount of information to consider at once, and it is, which is the reason I've created a website for you to navigate at your own pace.
I'm going to show you the possibilities I see in self healing in addition to all else. I'm here to guide you to teachers who I'm learning from, and share my own experiences for you to use and grow on. There are lots of resources here, and you'll get the most from them by taking your time to learn from these people, as a tempering process of realization for your mind.
This information may resonate with you and you feel a provoked sense of excitement to jump in and absorb it all at once, don't. Take your time with it. Consistency accumulated, this is what makes the biggest difference in healing..
Familiarize yourself with any information you find useful here through steady absorption. Consistency accumulated. You can intellectualize healing information and / or you can realize the essence of an understanding. The latter takes a calming of the mind, which takes a calming of the system, and the education is designed to prevent the mind from experiencing fear of the unfamiliar and producing survival based charges of uncertainty.
When we experience survival based charges of uncertainty it shuts down working access between our survival brain and the higher functioning parts of our brain / mind.
Our main objective is restoring working access between our survival brain and higher mind as quickly and efficiently as possible when stress charges have deactivated this connection to preserve energy for survival.
I describe the higher mind were regaining access to like this;
Have you ever been in an argument with someone, and sometime later after the argument was over you thought, "I wish I'd have said. (fill in the blank)." This is your higher mind (prefrontal cortex region of the brain) coming back online. Regardless of what our life scenario is, we're working to develop our ability to restore access with this part of our brain / mind. This is muscle memory of the mind.
Thought checking for validity and restoring access to the higher functioning parts of the mind happen through a combination of breathing, muscle relaxation, and thought maintenance, and this accounts for the operation of the brain, body, mind. Considering all three in dynamic combination of one another.
Consider the fact our breathing pattern physiologically changes when we're experiencing stress course our system vs when we're operating in a state of objective higher mind control / relaxation / recuperation / vacation., we're taking manual control of it. Note the area of our diaphragm, where our rib cage meets above our stomach and below our chest. This is the half way point of our breathing, and our in and out breath has a focus point of concentration of either higher toward the upper chest, or lower toward the belly when we're breathing.
When we're feeling stressed the breathing point is above the diaphragm in the upper chest, breathing is usually fast, rapid, shallow, stuck, stalled, paused, held, braced for impact. When we're feeling relaxed the breathing point is below the diaphragm, in the belly. Relaxed, slow, and mostly forgotten about.
Before we think about the actual breathing of air by the lungs, it helps to consider the muscles surrounding the lungs. Are they more stiff, rigid, and locked up with emotions, or are they relaxed, free flowing, and carefree? If our muscles are tensed up, the lungs are not bellowing air in and out of our body in a way conducive to operating our higher mind, so the first step to resetting our system is breathing in a way that re-oxygenates the parts of the brain we want access to. An easy way to remember this is, lower lungs higher brain / higher lungs lower brain. I don't know the science behind this, but when I do I'll update the website with it, however this is what I have experienced myself.
We're utilizing muscle memory to practice deliberately breathing in a way that the body associates with higher mind access. This feels totally unnatural when we're stressed, and remembering to remember to do it, and doing it is what we're doing. We're using our higher mind to teach our lower brain and body how to restore higher mind access. Don't make it any more complicated than this. Keep it simple, practice this, and realize it for yourself.
I'm creating this website to teach presence, help you learn to stabilize your system, recover your higher mind of awareness and objective decision making from stress charges that knock it offline, I promote healing, and want you to realize yourSelf as a standalone entity to any trauma remembered, and regain a sense o stability and cognitive wherewithal.
Recovery may include lots of ugly crying through excruciating waves of pain, it may not be pretty at all, but it's recovering. And once we learn to recover, we begin to not only recover stronger, the mind wakes up and the challenges we're recovering from also diminish in intensity, meaning they're easier to deal with. The challenges still suck, nothing about experiencing psychological trauma is fun.
I don't have everything in my life together, I struggle terribly sometime, and I'm recovering. This website is about recovering, as something we can all do, no matter what state it is we're recovering from, and where we're recovering to. Recovery is something we have, and we can do our own personal best with it.
Go through the sections, discover what works for you, understand I am only your tour guide. Something in here may click with you and you begin healing far better than I ever have. That's wonderful, there is no competition, only cooperation. We all have to do our own healing work, whether it's self healing or guided by professionals, and even the healing guided by professionals is ultimately self healing. Remember we all have to do our own pushups.
