Hope and Gratitude

Once I realized we can heal from psychological I gained a greater sense of hope in healing. Once I realized how effectively and assertively I can heal, I became motivated to heal, and I began healing.

Allowing Ourselves To Realize A Greater Sense Of Hope Is A Powerful Thing

Positive affirmations are not to be mistaken with hope.

Hope is seeing the shores of dry land after being lost at sea, knowing you have the ability to reach them, and believing in yourself to use your ability to make it to shore safely.

Positive affirmations are being lost at sea, and telling yourself you're going to find land.

Allowing ourselves to realize a greater sense of hope in healing, allows us to become more motivated to heal and find our second wind in healing.

Realizing a Greater Sense of Hope

Knowing I Can Heal

Knowing I Can Heal

Knowing I Can Heal

Dr. Tracey Marks, MD

Understanding the structure of the healing that is occurs through Self directed neuroplasticity allows the critical part of the brain / mind to accept it and utilize it to heal.

I'm taking advantage of two things simultaneously:

1. Self Directed Neuroplasticity

2. The human body's function of Atrophy

It's crucial to know we can heal, because once we know we can heal, the body begins healing itself.

As a self healing survival based organism the human body heals itself. Healing psychologically requires our own conscious direction, which when we bypass the mind's resistance of having to do any work to heal.

It sees an element of unfairness with the body getting to automatically heal from injuries and illness, while healing psychologially requires conscious direction and heavy psychological lifting.

There are two paths the mind can go from here: I don't want to face this, or I radically accept this and if I am able to heal from here then I am. I consciously chose to heal in the Summer of 2021, I have been healing eversince, I have a lifetime of healing to go, and will always be healing healthier from PTSD.

The key here is healing healthier. Understand this stuff, know what's possible and how you are empowered to use it in your own healing.

There is also the strategic use of atrophy, just like when we don't use our muscles they essentially deteriorate (atrophy), and our mind does the same thing, so it's important we cease from taking any steps of an old bad habit, no matter how familiar or comfortable it may be.

Doing nothing is also doing something, take simultaneous advantage of Self directed neuroplasticity along with Self directed atrophy.

Dr. Jill Bolte Taylor, PhD.

Dr. Jill Bolte Taylor was a major factor in me realizing a greater sense of hope in healing, knowing healing is possible, perhaps not the instant perfect cure my mind was searching for, but the realization that I can heal allowed me to allow myself to heal.

Dr. Jill Bolte Taylor was 36 years old, working as a neuroscientist / neuroanatomost, studying strokes in the brain, when she herself had a massive stroke in the left hemosphere of her brain, rendering her quadraplagic, requiring surgery to remove a golf ball sized bloodclot out of the (logical) left side of her brain.

The (emotional) right side of her brain was unaffected by the stroke and since both halfs of the brain work independently of one another she intuitively knew what steps she had to take to repair the damage in her brain.

Through the art of Self directed neuroplasticity, Dr. Jill Bolte Taylor "Rewired" her brain and went from being quadraplegic, to learning how to eat, talk, bathe, etc, all the way to working as a neuroscientist / neuroanatomost again in 8 years.

I realized that if she can heal that profoundly from the brain damage of a stroke, then I can at least move the dial in healing from psychological through Self directed neuroplasticity, and I have been doing this since the Summer of 2021.

David Strother LSCSW LCSW

The more you learn about healing PTSD / psychological trauma, the more confident you become in your own healing, and the more momentum in hope you build up.

PTSD is a brain injury similar to alcoholism, and just as someone recovering from alcoholism will always be recovering from alcoholism, I will always be recovering from PTSD.

I went through Intensive OutPatient PTSD treatment for first responders and military veterans through David Strothers program at Valiant Theraputic Services in Kansas City, MO in the Summer of 2021.

David understands trauma, and is especially effective connecting with first responders and military veterans in healing it.

He has a streetwise background, a professional background, and he has no problem calling you out when you're "Acting ridiculous" or "Acting fucking stupid".

I credit David as one of the people who helped save my life. He helped me make sense of trauma and showed me how to process trauma through writing via Cognitive Processing Therapy.

Dr. Bessel van der Kolk, MD

We can all heal through Self directed Neuroplasticity, it won't be perfect, it won't be pretty, but we can heal.

It's important we realize this for ourselves.

My goal is to change the emotional impact of both recalled and intrusive memories, grow a bit wiser, live a bit more peacefully.

My plan is to heal, heal, heal, and heal some more and continue experiencing Post Traumatic Growth and helping others do the same.

Finding Meaning

Knowing I can heal

Healing The Brain

Dr. Viktor E. Frankl, MD. Has been another arcitype figure for me in my healing.

As I can best describe it, Dr. Frankl was a psychatrist persecuted in Nazi concentration camps, where he discovered that those who found a mean for their pain were able endure unimaginable circumstances as opposed to those who had not put in the effort to find the greater meaning for their pain, and their lives in transmuting it into something of a higher calling than themselves, and this he called Logo Therapy.

I am now putting experiences of pain and trauma in my life for the best possible use I can find for them, including building this website, which helps me endure far more than I otherwise would be able to without having meaning or a greater purpose for it.

Quantum Healing

Quantum Healing

Dr. Deepak Chopra, MD.

Is a great leadsource for understanding healing from the perspective of truth being sranger than fiction in the world we live in.

Dr. Chopra understands the conscious energy we are first and foremost before the physical body comes into question as the biological self healing survival organism housing it.

He understands the solidity of all phyical matter being made of atoms; protons, neutrons, and electrons, atoms.  This includes the computer I'm working on, my physical body, the device you're reading this on, and your physical body, as molecular bits of "physical" energy housing a conscious energy reading this and healing from this perspective.

Choosing Gratitude Over Entitlement

Gratitude is sometimes not easy to access when the survival brain is running at full speed, however it's a powerful tool for regulating ourselves and our systems when we do.

Human beings teeter on a spectrum between gratitude and entitlement. We can either feel entitled to heal or grateful for our healing.
